PILGRIMAGE TO IRELAND

Celtic Spirituality: Living with a Monastic Heart

September 15 - 24, 2005
Led by
Marcus Losack and Therese Elias, OSB

Find your roots. Find yourself.

This pilgrimage will be unlike any other we have done. There will be no changes of venue at all. The Teach Lorcain Retreat Center in Glendalough will be the center from which we go forth to explore the world of St. Kevin and St. Brigit, Ireland's high crosses and pre-Christian heritage, the thought of Cassian and the rule of Benedict. For a fortunate few, this will be an immersion into Celtic Christianity.

Brigit's Well, Kildare

Brigit's Well

For the Celtic Christian, there was no divided church. We walk today in that truth: one Lord, one spirit, one baptism.

Yet approaching the journey as a pilgrim does not make it grim-faced tedium. There is tremendous joy, an wonderful opportunity to connect with like-minded people and plenty of just plain fun. Look at the page produced by the pilgrims from last September's Scottish Pilgrimage to see what the experience meant to them.

Also please take the time to visit Dr. Deborah Vess' site on Celtic Monasticism: History and Spirituality. It is a direct outgrowth of previous Celtic Pilgrimages with Esther de Waal, Marcus Losack and Therese Elias, OSB. It provides a wealth of information about Celtic Spirituality - as well as virtual tours of the sites we will visit.

Also, see the Links and Readings pages for more information about all of the saints and sites and ideas we will encounter on our sacred journey.

(Note: Each link on this itinerary page will take you to a different site. There are no duplicates.)
